Chris-Tel “Sets Anchor” on Compass Rose Marina Project

Compass Rose Marina Anchor Setting Event | June 2023

On June 1st, Compass Rose Marina “set anchor” on their new high-end boat storage facility located on San Carlos Island. The facility will consist of 286 dry storage boat slips enclosed in a sturdy concrete and steel structure, suitable for boats up to 50 feet in length, 29 wet boat slips, and a reliable boat launching facility. The building is designed to withstand category 5 hurricane conditions and winds up to 200 mph. Those in attendance got to witness a ceremonial anchoring of the site to signify the start of the project.

Jack Mayher, Owner of Compass Rose Marina, explained that the building will be constructed above the base flood elevation, and that portions of the building below the base flood elevation will have a waterproof membrane and panels around the perimeter to protect against storm surge. This is particularly important considering the recent 100-year event that the community feared. Kevin Williams from BSSW Architects emphasized the importance of responding to such events as a community. The project team includes BSSW Architects, Inc., Inkwerks Coastal Design Firm, Mack David Buildings, and Chris-Tel Construction.

Chris-Tel is excited to be a partner on this project, which is expected to transform the Fort Myers Beach community.
