Construction is completed on the Westin Conference Center facility at Tarpon Point in Cape Coral, Florida. The $15 million facility features a 35,000 square foot ballroom that has the capacity to divide into six distinct meeting spaces and can accommodate up to 1,950 guests. Other features include a 4,700 square foot pre-function area, a 1,700 square foot terrace overlooking the Caloosahatchee River Estuary, state-of-the-art catering kitchen, office and storage space on the 2nd and 3rd floors, a paved parking lot, a timber pedestrian bridge and a porte cochere.
The ceremonial ribbon cutting was held in the ballroom on Friday, January 5th to a crowd of almost 300 attendees, including owners Chris Freeman and Brad Hasselwander, newly elected Mayor of Cape Coral Joe Coviello, Lee County Visitor and Convention Bureau Executive Director Tamara Pigott, Westin General Manager Michael Tigne, Cape Coral Economic Development Office manager Dana Brunett, members of the Chris-Tel Construction project team and Chris Lee of Christopher J. Lee Architects who was the architect for the facility. The Westin Conference Center is expected to bring over $30 million in tourism revenue to Lee County over the next three years, add 15,000 new visitors to the area and create 33 new full time jobs in the County.
