Housing authority projects often present challenges above and beyond privately funded projects. Chris-Tel was able to provide significant value engineering services to eliminate $7.7 million from the proposed budget for the Landings at East Point. In addition, by doubling up on the trades and hiring community stakeholders, we were able to complete the project on time with little to no security issues. Notably, this project is LEED® Platinum for Homes certified, and has a roof-mounted solar water heating system, high efficiency HVAC, low volume plumbing and high performance windows, reducing energy costs by 80%.
Chris-Tel was invited into this fast-track negotiation based upon their comprehensive understanding of the work and their skill with similar ventures, including those with a prior successful HACFM redevelopment venture. This proved to be a most wise decision. Within a month, after several collaborative sessions, Chris-Tel Construction provided the team with a remarkable multi-million dollar savings. We could not have asked for a better general contractor and construction manager that we found in Chris-Tel Construction. They embrace the project and engage the community. We at Pinnacle Housing Group fully endorse Howard Wheeler and his entire team to work on any project, especially those with similar multiple phases, timing and funding challenges as we had with the Landings at East Pointe.
