In February 2021, Cypress Cove asked Chris-Tel Construction to complete one of the largest re-roof projects the firm has done to date.

Chris-Tel Construction was selected to complete just over half a million square feet of re-roof for the Cypress Cove community located in HealthPark, Florida. In total, 16 buildings and 18 carports were re-roofed on the 48-acre campus. The pristine, amenity-rich campus now boasts, 526,930 square-feet of vibrant white standing seam metal roofs, giving the community a fresh look.

The scope of work included re-roofing nine (9) villa buildings, two (2) mail kiosks, the skilled nursing facility known as The Lodge at Cypress Cove, the assisted living facility known as The Inn at Cypress Cove, the clubhouse, four-story independent living building, lakeside café and eighteen (18) carports.

The project consisted of removing the existing tile roof, stripping it down to the plywood, and replacing the roof with a standing seam metal roof. Due to cost savings realized on the project, the existing green roofs were all changed to white.
Not only did this change provide aesthetic consistency throughout the campus, but it also helped to protect the asset by resetting the roof warranties and reducing the energy consumption by improving the solar reflectivity of the roof so that less heat is absorbed through the building itself.

Originally, the project had an initial completion schedule
of 15 months, but through diligent scheduling practices, Chris-Tel Construction completed the project in 12 months.

The team and partners on the re-roof project not only completed three months ahead of schedule but received the Sunshine State Safety Award through the University of South Florida. The award is highly sought after amongst construction industry professionals and is considered one of the most notable safety awards in the state.

The team prepared for and experienced a full OSHA inspection from our consultant at USF who was very impressed with the processes, people, and documentation related to the job. The day-to-day operations on site are already impressive, with additional safety measures put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic to protect the residents and patrons of the Cypress Cove community, so this was the icing on the cake.

Connie Hart

Project Manager, Cypress Cove at HealthPark Florida

I recently had the pleasure of working with Chris-Tel on a very large re-roof project on the HealthPark Florida campus. The oversight provided was tremendous and an award was given to them for their safety practices. This was a challenging project due to size and scope, but it was handled extremely well and completed ahead of schedule. The communication was excellent, schedules were created and updated weekly, any concerns were addressed immediately and handled to everyone’s satisfaction. Thanks to all team members who made this project a huge success!
